In 12 A.D., a stone mask was discovered, cults were built around it. It was claimed that if dipped in blood, the mask would give a human-being, godly-eternal powers, unlocking the FULL potential of your brain if you wear it and let it's tentacles penetrate your flesh. But in exchange of that mysterious power, you become weak to sunlight and require to feed yourself in other people's life-force, what we would call, a Vampire.
The Joestar family, a rather important English archaeologist family finds the mask, unknown of the evil it represents. Abide that, George Joestar, the patriarch of the family, loses his wife to a carriage accident and ends up being saved unintentionally by Dario Brando, the one who tipped the carriage, George decides to be-friend the thief saying words of gold.
" I owe you one. "
Quickly, Dario is on in his deathbed, cashing in his «favour»: The 'adoption' of his son Dio to the Joestar family. Unfortunately, Dio is a devil in person, due to the constant abuse his criminal father put him though, physically and emotionally, by the time Dario is dead, he confesses in third person that he actually poisoned his father and spits on his father's grave. Gets on a carriage and goes to settle down on the Joestar estate.
Like in all stories where's a devil, there's an angel.
Jonathan Joestar is the son of George Joestar, who survived the carriage tipping. A kind person with a rather tragic past, he manages to live by life, acting the best he can, earning him friends and a nice nickname.
Jojo.
Quickly, like you predicted, Dio and Jojo meet. And then the Bizarre Adventure began.
A mask that will turn the life of the Joestar family around for more then 7 generations! A magical journey though Hirohiko Araki's eyes and pen.
The manga that sparked controversy and revolutionised the Shounen stereotype, still headstrong since the date it started, 1987. Filled with characters with weird quirks and charisma, you're bound for a thrill.

What I like about this manga/anime :
- It's easy to understand
- It's got something that a lot of anime feel short of, there's no need to stop the action to explain what the hell is going on in the panel, since the storyline is straight-forward. ( Kishimoto I'm looking at you. )
- It's storyline involves a time-span between 1891 to 2012 and a time paradox of the original 1st series (Jonathan's era).
- In each chapter/segment there's always a new protagonist and a new crew, all of them well developed with bonds that MERGE with the older characters.
Like a nicely done knitting drawing, all the lines are all connected to one and other and that's why Jojo's Bizarre Adventure even after almost 20 years has yet to die. Also. Dio Brando. WRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRY! Mucho importante.
What I dislike about the manga/anime:
- It's appearance, Araki should taken more time in practice anatomy in characterization. All characters have muscles where they shouldn't have and somehow their bodies twist and turn like they're circus freak-artists.
- The fact that some characters die rather fast. That's not really a BAD thing, but it's a pet peeve of mine. Why kill what makes the story more heart-warming? But then again it gives more drive into the ass-kicking. It's a two-edged sword, I guess? My pet peeve. Not to be taken seriously.
